We've Got Spirit!

Last weeks highlights were CHEER CAMP and the pep rally. The girls had a great time at cheer camp. I must have been asked 100 times: When is cheer camp? We also attended our first pep rally and all the kids said it was awesome. We will be attending the junior high pep rallies because they are at 12:15. We are getting out of school during the high school pep rallies. As usual, we had a very busy week. We did a short unit on monsters. We read the book Go Away Big Green Monster and then we made our very own big green monsters. The kids also created a monster glyph based on their favorite color, their age, and which monster book they liked best. We had lots of fun talking about monsters and making them!

Mrs. Tammie is back!!!! YAY!!!! Her husband is doing well. Thanks for all your prayers.

We are now studying dinosaurs. My dogs were out in the yard and discovered a giant egg. I brought it to school and had the kids try and guess what was inside of it. There were several interesting guesses. When the kids came back from recess, they discovered the egg had hatched and a baby dinosaur was inside. They are loving the dinosaur unit. A Busy Week

We have had a very busy week in K5. We have made and read several short books this week. The books included sight words, color words, shapes and numbers. The kids are so excited about reading and are doing a great job! They also learned about their five senses and created a five senses brown bear that will be coming home. They turned out really cute. It was our first project and they did a really good job. We continued to work on beginning sounds and blending. I am amazed at how fast they are learning their blends. Centers started this week and the kids are really enjoying them. The centers are language arts, math, art, free play, and reading/handwriting with Mrs. Brandi. They go to one center a day rotating through all five during the week. Next week we will be doing our monster unit. Stayed tuned for pictures and More Adventures in Kindergarten!

Thanks to all the parents who have sent snacks for shapes and the alphabet. The kids are having a blast eating our way through the alphabet.

Please continue to keep Mrs. Tammie's family in your prayers as her husband recovers from heart surgery.

Don't forget BOOK BOXES are due Friday, August 26. If you have any questions, leave a comment and I will answer as soon as I can.

Teddy Bear Picnic

The kids had a great time on their Teddy Bear Picnic. We watched a short movie about the Teddy Bear Picnic. We put on our Teddy Bear hats so we could become official Teddy Bears and headed off to our picnic under the trees. Everyone got a brown bag filled with bear food. Before they could eat their bear food they had to sort it on their plate. Once Mrs. Brandi checked their sorted plate the bears could eat their food. This was a great and fun way to end bear week. We would like to thank Henry's mom, Mrs. Susan, for bringing drinks and helping us out on our picnic. Thanks a bunch! Stay tuned for more Adventures in Kindergarten!!!!!!

1st Day of School

The first day of school was very exciting and fun for our class. We went on a school tour in search of Brown Bear Brown Bear after we read the book. The kids had a blast looking for all the characters from the story. We returned to our room to find Brown Bear Brown Bear waiting on us. After we had our pictures made with him, we painted a story map. Stayed tuned for more Adventures in Kindergarten!
